The shorts are fine, but I was scalped!

The shorts are fine. But, after paying in full , including tax and import fees,for two pair of shorts, I was told I was to be charged an additional COD charge of 65$ by USCustoms, collected by UPS, paid by a check to the vendor. When I tried for three days to get a response about the charge from Malika Padma, I got no reply until I actually paid the extra $65 and accepted delivery. Then I got an email from Malika Padma “explaining” the additional charge. Their lack of a timely response to my problem and inquiry was upsetting. These shorts are expensive. This additional fee was an unpleasant surprise. I am not happy with their service.

We’re truly sorry for the frustration you experienced with your recent order. We completely understand how upsetting unexpected customs fees can be. Unfortunately, import duties and brokerage fees are determined by each country’s Customs and are outside of our control, they can vary depending on the shipping method and destination country.

That said, we should have responded more promptly to your inquiry, and we sincerely apologize for that delay. We’re a small mother–daughter team doing our best to handle every question personally, and sometimes messages can take a little longer to reach us, but we always want our customers to feel cared for.

Together with Shopify, we’ve now added a customs fee prediction tool at checkout to help estimate any potential import costs before purchase. .
